Aldo Tiboni and Elaine Formica, Ride Noho proprietors, will greet you when you arrive on Wednesday evening, June 18, 2008. After four days of unforgettable riding, eating and relaxing, you’ll depart after lunch on Sunday June 22.
We have some great climbing here in western Massachusetts, and we can’t wait to share it with you. From the 15% steeps to the miles of long steady climbs, this weekend is about experiencing the contentment that can only come from accomplishment, and accomplishment that can only come from overcoming significant challenges.
When you are not climbing, you will have plenty of time to take advantage of all else that Northampton has to offer. Enjoy the blend of boutique shopping, renowned local cuisine and wonderful cultural activities that have made our Paradise City famous.
Thursday, Day 1 - Three Walls (Extended Cut) - 45 Miles, 4300 Feet (Ride Noho: A, SCBC: C+/B-) or 60 Miles, 4900 Feet (Ride Noho: A, SCBC: B-/B)
We'll breakfast at the famous Sylvester's Restaurant, located in what was the home of Sylvester Graham who is remembered mainly for the cracker that bears his name. Following breakfast, we'll head out on an extended version of our famous Three Walls route. With a bit of optional additional fun tacked on to a ride that already features three long, steep climbs, we will surely get you out of the saddle! Upon our return we'll shower and head off to a wonderful lunch at Fitwilly's Restaurant. Come late afternoon, the quaint town of Northampton invites you to spend an evening of visiting museums, shopping, and relaxing (naptime?). And of course, enjoying the restaurant of your choice.
Friday, Day 2 - Our Famous Shelburne Falls Route - 55 Miles, 3600 Feet (Ride Noho: A, SCBC: C+/B-) or 70 Miles, 4300 Feet (Ride Noho: A, SCBC: B-/B)
After a hearty breakfast at Sylvester's we’ll be back on the bikes for some long, steady climbs and lots of spectacular scenery. This ride is a real crowd pleaser with a stop for some delicious baked goods at McCusker’s Market and beautiful views of the glacial potholes at Salmon Falls.
Saturday, Day 3 - Epic Saturday, a Variation on a Theme - 85 Miles, 6300 Feet (Ride Noho: A, SCBC: C+/B-) or 100 miles, 7100 Feet (Ride Noho: A, SCBC: B-/B)
This is the big one! With a combination of long, steady climbs and the final, 12+ percenter out of the Chesterfield Gorge, you’re sure to have some tired legs. This ride is supported with a fully stocked van and friendly guides that will allow you to go at your own pace. We’ve had guests come back time and again to do this ride, so we know that you’ll love it! In fact you can see for yourself in this video:
Sunday, Day 4 - Recovery to the Book Mill - 40 Miles, 1200 Feet (Ride Noho: A, SCBC: C+/B-) or 50 Miles, 2100 Feet (Ride Noho: A, SCBC: B-/B)
A recovery ride at a leisurely pace is the perfect ride for today. We will explore the back roads to and from the Montague Book Mill, where we will stop, refuel and explore before heading back to our home destination, Northampton. Lunch at Fitzwillie's, a local favorite will be a great place to end a great adventure. Departure is after lunch.
