Prepare to test yourself on some of the most challenging climbs that western Massachusetts has to offer including the famous climb up the north side of Mount Greylock!! Come for one, two, three or all four days of riding.
When you are not climbing, you will have plenty of time to take advantage of all else that Northampton has to offer. Enjoy the blend of boutique shopping, renowned local cuisine and wonderful cultural activities that have made our Paradise City famous.
Aldo Tiboni and Elaine Formica, Ride Noho owners, will greet you when you arrive on Wednesday evening, June 19, 2012. After four days of unforgettable riding, eating and relaxing, you’ll depart after lunch on Sunday, June 23.
Important note: On Days 1, 2 and 3 we will be offering B paced rides on flatter courses for those who might want a more sedate way to spend the weekend!
Thursday, Day 1 - The Greylock Climb – 42 Miles, 3600 Feet
On Day 1 we van-ride to the Greylock Reservation Visitors Center where we'll mount the bikes for a 40-mile loop that includes a climb up the north side of Mount Greylock. The north side features 2800 feet of elevation gain in 10 miles, topping out at 3500 feet and with 15 to 20% sections that will indeed test your climbing ability. This is a world-class climb that you just have to experience (click the profile below for some cool comparisons to Tour de France climbs). After our adventure, we will lunch in Williamstown before piling into the vans for the drive back to Northampton. You’ll be glad you aren’t driving! Come late afternoon, the quaint town of Northampton invites you to spend time relaxing and of course, enjoying the restaurant of your choice.
Friday, Day 2 - Lake Wyola - 44 Miles 2000 Feet
We'll breakfast at the famous Sylvester's Restaurant, located in what was the home of Sylvester Graham who is remembered mainly for the cracker that bears his name. Following breakfast, we’ll be on the bikes for some long, steady climbs and lots of spectacular scenery. This ride starts out being fairly flat as it takes us accross the river and eventually climbs to the Eastern Upland and by Lake Wyola with a stop for some delicious baked goods at the Leverett Village Coop. We love this coop! Aldo is already looking forward to that chocolate croissant. Lunch at Fitzwilly's, a local favorite which is a great place to fuel up for Day 3’s epic ride.
Saturday, Day 3 - Epic Saturday, a Variation on a Theme - 70 Miles, 7400 Feet
After a hearty breakfast at Sylvester's, we will tackle the big one! This ride includes the spectacular 15 mile Skyline Trail with its endless climbs and descents. Then, we'll throw in some longer, steady climbs and the final 12+% climb out of the Chesterfield Gorge. This ride is supported with a fully stocked van and friendly guides that will allow you to go at your own pace. We've received rave reviews about this ride from our guests, so we know that you’ll love it! A late lunch at Vive Fresh Pasta, also a local favorite will be savored.
