Key Information

Our Trip Philosophy

In Girona, we replicate the model we use in Northampton, with a few slight adjustments to accommodate the cultural differences. That means we’ll be eating local cuisine and riding on a bit later time table. All the better to experience the wonders of this beautiful area.

We Are Different From Other Cycling Tours

Elaine, Aldo, Jeff and Gabe are on-site during the whole tour to ensure that our guests have a great time. We’ll be there to help with everything from choosing restaurants, to guiding the rides. We love what we do, and wouldn’t think of putting our guests in the care of anyone but us!

Girona: European Riding the Way It Should Be

Our home base for this week is the magical city of Girona, located in Catalonia northeast of Barcelona. Founded over 2,000 years ago, the city has been an epicenter of culture, arts and religion.

In Girona you will experience:

  • Spectacular riding.
  • Catalan culture and cuisine.
  • Great roads with respectful traffic.
  • Proximity to Barcelona and France.
  • A world famous international resort region.
  • Access to a spa and massage.
  • Unique shops.
  • An excellent transportation system.
Group Size

Our groups will be no more than 8 guests. Smaller groups are just more fun!

Getting There

We suggest that you fly into Barcelona–El Prat Airport where you may find train or bus transport to either Barcelona or to Girona via Barcelona.

We also suggest arriving in Europe a day or two earlier to allow your inner clock time to adjust. We feel that doing so will enhance your experience greatly, especially on the first day of riding. We have plenty of recommendations for you should you decide to extend your trip prior to or after riding with us.

Ground Transportation

It's an easy train ride from Barcelona to Girona. You can then take a short cab ride to our hotel. And, since we are a Rail Europe agent, we can help you make your train travel plans.

If you choose to bring your own bike we have arranged with a local bike shop for them to unbox and assemble then disassemble and box your bike for 25 Euros per task (a total of 50 Euros) and they will store your box if you like.

Another option is to rent 2017 Cannondale Synapse bikes with compact 105 groups for 130 Euros for the week. Sizes available include 48,51,54,56,58,61 cm.

The hotel has a locked bike storage area in an underground parking facility adjacent to it which works quite well and is free of charge. Guest who bring their own bikes may also use this area for assembly and disassembly.

Catalan Culture

Girona offers an endless array of sport, touristic and cultural activities. The city's quaint side streets and shops are great for shopping or cooling off at a café. Having experienced centuries of battles and conquests, Girona and the surrounding areas are replete with castles, churches, forts and rustic villages.

Catalonia is highly regarded for its gastronomy, playing home to several Michelin rated restaurants including El Celler de Can Roca. Known as the Costa Brava, or "Wild Coast," Catalonia features stunning beaches as well as the snowcapped Pyrenees Mountains. In the spring, it is very possible to go skiing and go to the beach in the same day. If you are looking for big city excitement, Barcelona is very close by. The second largest city in Spain and a European cultural center, Barcelona is well worth its own trip to enjoy its wonderful architecture, art, cuisine and people.

Pyrenees in the distance.
