Two Day Tune-up|
Great riding, solid instruction and incomparable service….in a stress-free environment
June 17 & 18, 2017
Will be held under a USA Cycling Permit
Each spring, you bring your bike in for its annual tune up…that’s great, but what about you? You’ve been on the road bike for a while, building your fitness and cycling knowledge. But, something nags at you. You know you have what it takes to be an even better bike rider.
Now is the time to step up your game! Register today for this ‘Two Day Tune-up’. You will learn new skills and techniques and refine the ones you have. You will achieve a new level of confidence on the road and become a smarter more accomplished bike rider.
This 'two day tune up' will help you develop the finer points of riding a road bicycle.
- Improve your cornering, climbing and descending skills
- Perfect your pedaling technique
- Polish your group riding skills
This two day event is designed for those who have a moderate level of experience riding a road bike or those who have more experience and are looking for a structured environment in which to polish the skills that will make them more confident and comfortable in the saddle. Participants should bring a road bike (with drop bars) and be fit enough to enjoy averaging 15 - 17 mph on the flats during rides of 50 miles over terrain that will include some climbing.
Attendees will arrive in Northampton on Friday evening, June 16 and depart on the afternoon of Sunday, June 18, 2017. This two day tune up includes accommodations at The Hotel Northampton, the Fairfield Inn or the Northampton Quality Inn & Suites (formerly the Best Western Northampton), a hearty breakfast and lunch Saturday and Sunday, as well as written materials to support the coaching. Each camp is limited to 8 attendees, so be sure to reserve your space by signing up now!

||Elaine Tiboni began cycling seriously in the early '90s when her interest in duathlon and triathlon caused her to begin riding with purpose. In 2000 and 2001, she concentrated her competitive efforts on the Mt. Washington Hillclimb, finishing third and second in her age group respectively. In 2011, Elaine took second in her age group at the Black Fly TT in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire and in 2012 took first in her age group. Elaine has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education and a Master of Science in Physical Education, is a Level 3 USA Cycling Coach, a Certified Instructor for MassBike and is a past board member of the Pioneer Valley Chapter of MassBike. Recent attendees of previous Intermediate Camps say:
- "The content of the course, the instruction and the riding were all great.
Northampton was a very pleasant surprise to me, with its restaurants and
charm. However, the overall superb quality of the experience was enhanced
by two very special people. Thanks to both Elaine and you for making the
three days so memorable."
- "I need to tell you I have finished two (miles not metric) centuries since camp and am signed up for my third this season on Sunday. Part of how I finally achieved my long time goal of a century, since I had not been able to go more than 70-80 miles prior to camp, is the skill set and confidence that I know what I'm doing-- thanks to you! I smoke everybody as much as a 120 pounder can on the downhills!!
I know finishing feeling good--meaning I can go harder next time--and my surprisingly fast times (and even short rides compared to last season) are to your credit! It's not just the downhill skills, though that's where I see the most improvement, but overall that I am a better cyclist. I attack the road itself now; it's like I am seeing it differently because I know what to look for and how to take it on for my mind and body ( repeat after me....I LOVE uphills! I LOVE uphills! damn it works....) and I'm not just peddling along hoping I'm going faster. I can't wait to see how much more I improve before the Wisconsin snows end my cycling season!
Thanks for all the success I've experienced since camp....wow!"
